The entrance to heaven
revealed itself
in my backyard.
After the rain
a sentinel of palms
led the way.
An underbelly of
orange pink yellow
beneath ashes of clouds
a bird of paradise
hopeful in its call
to lift my head
look up
to an emerging blue sky.
The sunset reminded me there are the inevitable endings, but in the ‘letting go’ there are also beginnings.
This poem is dedicated to Michele Serros and all my friends I’ve lost throughout the years.

Your poem moved me, and was an instant reminder of how I miss my home…so deeply…the palms opening the way, the birds of paradise, the bougainvillea….all in my heart and my home after the rain….reminds me I am in an alien place and home is where my heart is…thank you

Hi, my dear friend. I sent you a comment on you lovely poetry. But I have tell you how difficult it is to reply….Do you know why I really hate wordpress? EVERY time I sign in I ask it to remember my password, but it NEVER does. After I have written you an intimate thought, it won’t accept me. So then, I have to spend 15 minutes trying to find my password, then realize I don’t know where it is, so I have to reset my password…then they have to send me a message with a secret number on my cell phone….then after that, they have to have a secret OTHER message code. What are they the CIA?????? The WORST part is, I can’t retrieve my original heart-felt, spontaneous message, so must (with a stressful angst) try to recall what I wrote to you! I am laughing now, but it is so aggravating!!! love, suzi holland From: AlvaradoFrazier To: suzistudio@yahoo.com Sent: Wednesday, January 14, 2015 10:24 AM Subject: [New post] After the Rain – Poem #yiv2298316539 a:hover {color:red;}#yiv2298316539 a {text-decoration:none;color:#0088cc;}#yiv2298316539 a.yiv2298316539primaryactionlink:link, #yiv2298316539 a.yiv2298316539primaryactionlink:visited {background-color:#2585B2;color:#fff;}#yiv2298316539 a.yiv2298316539primaryactionlink:hover, #yiv2298316539 a.yiv2298316539primaryactionlink:active {background-color:#11729E;color:#fff;}#yiv2298316539 WordPress.com | alvaradofrazier posted: ” The entrance to heavenrevealed itselfin my backyard. After the raina sentinel of palmsled the way.An underbelly of orange pink yellowbeneath ashes of cloudsa bird of paradisehopeful in its callto lift my headlook up ” | |

Hi Suzi, yes, you found me out, I am with CIA 🙂 thus the jumping through hoops. I had no idea WP makes it difficult to leave a comment. It happens to me with whoever has those darn CAPTCHA comments or whenever I try to leave a comment on someone who uses Blogspot.
More importantly, thank you for taking the time and energy to send me your words; I do appreciate hearing from you.

The poem is beautiful but your last words are very moving too. Just after my father passed, the sun which had been absent for four days as he was between life and death, appeared as I left his bedside. I couldn’t help but read a sign, here just for me. And like you say, I could somehow let go. Beautiful gift to your friends, Mona. From afar they must be touched.
